About the Book:

Embracing love reciprocated and love unrequited, this selection ranges from irrepressible optimism to longing and loss; from lovers' abandon to parental affection. There are poems for every lover and loved one to savour and share, and to touch the heart - but leaving plenty room for humour and a whiff of sour grapes.

Stewart Conn mines Scotland's rich seam of love poetry in its different tongues - from traditional ballads, Burns and Scott to MacCaig, Maclean, Morgan and the vitality of Liz Lochhead and Jackie Kay; from 'Barbara Allan', 'the Blythsome Bridal' and 'Lassie Lie Near Me' to 'Hot Chick', 'Yeah Yeah Yeah' and 'Out with my Loves on a Windy Day'.

Reviews:

Featuring poems of first love, yearning for love, love in absence and eternal love, this vibrant selection spans the centuries from traditional verse to contemporary poetry in Gaelic, Scots and English. THE SCOTS MAGAZINE

Conn’s achievement is to have created a feelgood anthology in which doubt, loss, jealousy and impermanence are all given their due... Like the best dark chocolate, the contents of this slim volume linger ambiguously on the palate. THE SUNDAY TIMES
