With our recent publications of Janey Godley’s books ‘Honey and Janey: You’ve Been Telt’ and ‘Honey Found a Home: The Lucky Sausage’, we are taking a look back to reflect on the pets of Luath, inspired by Janey and Honey’s adventures.

The name Luath Press comes from Robert Burns whose little collie Luath (Gael., swift or nimble) tripped up Jean Armour at a wedding and gave him the chance to speak to the woman who was to be his wife and the abiding love of his life. Burns called one of The Twa Dogs Luath after Cuchullin’s hunting dog in Ossian’s Fingal. The original creators of Luath, Tom and Rene Atkinson, also had a collie called Luath. Sadly, whilst no one currently at Luath has any border collies in their lives, we do have many other pets in all shapes and sizes.

Meet Olive.

Olive is part of our editorial and events coordinator Kira’s family in Fife.

She is a big cuddly bear who is known to be in favour of doing a lot of forward rolls.

Olive is excited to welcome Honey into the Luath family, Although she might trip over her every now and again.

Meet Duke.

Duke is part of our media and press coordinator Scott’s family in Aberdeenshire.

Whilst Scott provided us with lots of photos of Duke, we thought this best captured his nature.

Though not a dog like Honey, Duke can certainly stand on his own against the others.

Meet Jake.

He is Duke’s brother and also part of Scott’s tribe in Aberdeenshire.

He is the closest in relation to our original Luath (given his breed).

Scott also provided plenty of photos of Jake, yet noted there were not as many photos since he can rarely sit long enough to get any.

We are sure Honey will be able to teach him how to pose properly.

Meet Honey!

Our cheeky wee companion that we meet in Janey’s books ‘Honey and Janey: You’ve Been Telt’ and ‘Honey Found a Home: The Lucky Sausage’

Fans of Janey’s will know Honey for her wit and banter back and forth with Janey. She never misses a beat.

These books are Honey’s time to shine!

We are so pleased that Honey is joining our tribe of pets here at Luath. Make sure you grab your copy of ‘Honey and Janey: You’ve Been Telt’ and ‘Honey Found a Home: The Lucky Sausage’ to see what Honey and Janey get up to!
