A Year of Reflections from a Bibliophile
Mary W. Craig Guest Blog
Christmas is coming and my bookshelf is getting fat.
My last New Year's Resolution to buy fewer books only lasted until the 3rd of January.
In February, I received a thank-you gift from a friend and, of course, it was a book.
March came along and spring cleaning my study unearthed an unused book token – oh dear.
Ah spring, April showers accompanied every walk but ducking into a bookshop to avoid a particularly heavy shower led to yet another book.
So, May came along and I was determined – no books! Guess how that worked out? Three bought in one day.
Summertime and the reading was easy – June, four books, July, three books and August, five books!
By September it was book festival season so there was no point in trying to resist, I didn't keep count.
October winds and wet evenings, books required for evening reading.
A birthday in November saw two huge books arrive through the post, not my fault.
By December I had to buy another bookcase.
And among all that I managed to finish my latest book Agnes Finnie: The 'Witch' of Potterrow Port.
