About the Book:
From the smooth stones and intricate sand patterns illuminated by sunlight to the vibrant hues of dawn and the tranquil shades of sunset, this collection captures the stunning beauty of the Isle of Iona. Through the lens of a devoted visitor, the photographs reveal the island’s varied moods, colours and the ever-changing light.
Divided into nine thematic sections, each collection showcases the intimate details and expressions of the landscape. Accompanying each series is a reflective essay that shares the author’s memories, emotional responses and sensory experiences, blending photography with personal narrative. This work serves as a heartfelt love letter to Iona, a homage to a lifelong connection with this remarkable place.
Reviews:
Scotland has been Barbara Sellars’ muse, both in her poetry and in her photography. Its seasons. Its nature. Its textures. Its tones. Like her poetry, her photography is delicate, sensitive and sometimes dreamy. She invites us to look close, then closer still, to focus in on details we might otherwise have missed. From a different angle. From a new perspective. She is keen to show us the mysterious and captures beautifully the atmosphere, the stillness and the silence of the natural world.
KAY RITCHIE, poet and photographer
When I first saw Barbara’s work it was clear that it was very personal. The beautiful images conveyed a journey that was obviously very important and meaningful to her, and as such they have an authenticity that stands them apart. The images are imbued with a sense of poetry, a sense of an artist searching for something deeper and more profound than a mere record of the landscape around her. The connection between Barbara and the places she explores is shared with us, the viewer, through the sensitive, intricately observed Images she has created.

About the Author:
BARBARA SELLARS has loved the natural world for as long as she can remember; it has always inspired and comforted her. Since 2007, she has explored photography as a means of expressing this passion, capturing moments of beauty – whether it’s the fascinating form of a tree, the vibrant bands of metamorphic rock, or dawn on a Hebridean beach. Each image reflects her interpretation, standing as a witness to the transitory nature of life.
