Jock Findlay
JOCK FINDLAY was born and raised in the heart of West Lothian, an area deeply intertwined with Scotland's burgeoning shale oil industry in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. His life, like many in the community, was heavily influenced by The Pumpherston Oil Company, a cornerstone of the local economy and social fabric. Known locally as ‘The Works,’ this company not only provided stable employment but also shaped the entire community’s way of life.
This deep connection between work, life, and community was a defining feature of Jock Findlay’s upbringing, shaping his family’s values and his own experiences throughout his life.
