Glenise Borthwick

GLENISE BORTHWICK enlisted in the teaching profession in 1979 armed with a teaching certificate from Jordanhill as well as a Diploma in Education from Glasgow University and a degree in English and Communications. She joined the English Department at Vale of Leven Academy in West Dunbartonshire, where she quickly learned that having a sense of humour is sometimes the only thing that gets teachers and pupils through the school day. She became a full-time trade union convener for teachers in West Dunbartonshire, then moved to Edinburgh and joined the General Teaching Council for Scotland, initially as their Investigating Officer, and then Communications Officer. She is now Head of Communications with the Council and editor-in-chief of Teaching Scotland.
