Alistair Findlay

ALISTAIR FINDLAY has had a varied and multifaceted career, spanning several fields and experiences that have deeply influenced his writing. His professional journey began in the physically demanding role of a clay miner, grounding him in the working-class experience. He later transitioned into the field of social work. This broad range of life experiences has provided rich material for his poetry, allowing him to explore themes such as class, identity and social justice with authenticity and insight.

As a poet, Findlay has made significant contributions to contemporary Scottish literature, including Sex, Death and Football (2003), The Love Songs of John Knox (2006), Dancing with Big Eunice (2010) and Never Mind the Captions (2011).. He has published four collections of poetry, each marked by a distinctive voice and sharp social commentary.
