About the Book:
Street poet Gary Robertson's first collection reaches out to everyone who's ever said they'd be out for just 'Twa Pints', who can't help swearing, or who's ever been stung by a wasp. Robertson explores the realities of living and growing up in Dundee's infamous housing schemes in vigorous Dundonian verse. Here, hard-hitting commentaries on drink, drugs, gangs and violence contrast with poems on childhood games, imaginative freedom, and big dreams. This colourful and honest verse offers a unique view of Dundee and its people from one of its own.
About the Author:
GARY ROBERTSON was born in 1967 and has lived and worked in Dundee all his life. A fitness fanatic who has climbed Scotland’s 284 Munros, in 2001 he won the BBC 2 reality TV series, SAS: Are You Tough Enough? He very much enjoys family life and even finds time for playing the bagpipes. He and fellow Dundonian Mark Thomson are the two halves of Tribal Tongues, a high energy poetry partnership performing in the Dundee dialect.
