About the Book:

We first meet Melnikov, one-time star of the German circus, languising as a down-and-out in Trafalgar Square. He soon finds himself drawn into a toruous web of intrigue. He is a complec man whose personal struggle with the bottle is an innder drama which paralllels the tense twists and turns of the spy mystery which unfolds. Melnikov's options are narrowing. About the Author:

HUGH MacLACHLAN, in his first full length novel, demonstrates an undoubted ability to tell a good story well. His earlier stories have been broadcast on Radio Scotland, and he has the rare distinction of being shortlisted for the Macallan/Scotland on Sunday Short Story Competition two years in succession.
