About the Book:

Pilgrims: God bless ’em.
Rough: resting place for the unwary.
Unreliable: quirky, amusing, totally reliable.
St Andrews: a charming and historic town on the east coast of Scotland; site of the Chariots of Fire beach; the home of golf; as close to paradise as you’re likely to find this side of the pearly gates.

Reviews:

Tobert displays genuine erudition on such topics as the history of the cathedral and university and, of course, the tricky business of playing the Old Course itself.  THE SCOTSMAN

About the Author:

MICHAEL TOBERT grew up in Nottinghamshire. After Oxford University, he tried his hand in the City of London (where he hated every moment), at a water company in the West Midlands and at the London Business School. He then headed north where his fragmented career culminated in an attempt to start his own publishing company. This, to his wife’s astonishment, was not a total failure. He has lived in St Andrews for the last 20 years and spends his spare time on the golf course.
