About the Book:
Skye-based artist Diana Mackie tells of her love affair with the island, where it is said you can experience every season in one day. This environment is the inspiration for her dramatic oil studies, which express her response to the island’s wild and ever-changing moods, both day and night.
She paints waterfalls, woodland, shorelines and moonscapes. Rays of sun penetrating through a storm-cloud, isolated moonlit paths, spume rising from a turbulent sea, the subtle beauty of cabbage and rhubarb – all hold a fascination for her. She also recounts the story of the moon paintings she created in memory of those who took part in the perilous Arctic Convoys during WWII.
Praise for the Author:
Diana Mackie’s board sweeping canvases are an expression of the moody climate of Skye - abstract contemporary paintings which radiate light and drama. LUCY SWEET, Homes and Interiors Scotland

About the Author:
DIANA MACKIE is a professional painter and qualified designer, who came to live on the Isle of Skye in 1992. The brief included designing and making large stained glass panels for the main entrance, to furniture and bar design, spatial planning, external landscaping, and providing oil paintings for specific areas within the buildings. Oil painting has now become her complete focus, and her home has developed from a small croft house into her working studio and gallery. Her client base is both International and within the UK.
