About the Author:

KATHERINE STEWART was born in 1914. During the war, she worked for the Admiralty in London. She then moved to Abriachan, near Inverness, where she ran a croft and wrote documentaries for the BBC. She was instrumental in setting up the museum at Abriachan, and in 2005 received the Saltire Society Highland Branch Award for Contribution to the Understanding of Highland Culture, in recognition of her work.
